Plants vs Zombies (PvZ) is a classic tower defense game where you protect your home from waves of zombies. Place plants across your lawn, collect sunlight, and build the right defenses before zombies reach your house. Each level introduces new plants, zombie types, and gameplay challenges.

Basic Gameplay

  1. Adapt to Each Level – Different environments and zombie combinations change how you should build your lawn. Experiment with different plant combinations to find what works best.
  2. Collect Sun – Gather falling sunlight or use Sunflowers to generate more. Sun is your main resource for planting defenses.
  3. Choose Your Plants – Select plants from your available seed packets before each level. Build your lineup around the zombies you expect to face.
  4. Place Plants Strategically – Plant defenders on the lawn grid and leave enough space for offensive and support plants.
  5. Build Your Defense – Use Peashooters for basic attacks, Sunflowers for resources, Wall-nuts for protection, and Cherry Bombs for powerful area damage.
  6. Watch the Zombie Waves – Zombies appear from the right and move toward your house. Stronger zombies require different counters and better positioning.
  7. Use Plant Abilities Wisely – Some plants attack multiple targets, slow enemies, block lanes, or deal heavy damage. Save powerful options for dangerous situations.

Peashooter

Peashooter is a basic ranged attacker that costs 100 Sun. It fires peas down its lane and works well against standard zombies. Check Image Gallery Of Peashooter.

Wall-nut

A defensive plant costing 50 Sun. Its high durability blocks zombies and gives your attacking plants more time to deal damage.

Cherry Bomb

A powerful single-use plant that costs 150 Sun. It explodes across an area, dealing heavy damage to groups of nearby zombies.

Repeater

An upgraded offensive plant costing 200 Sun. It fires two peas at a time, provides significantly more damage than a standard Peashooter.

Plants vs Zombies features many zombie types,  each with different strengths and behaviors. Learning how they move and attack helps you choose the right plants for every wave.

  • Regular Zombie – The standard enemy with low health and slow movement. It is easy to handle but can become dangerous in large groups.
  • Conehead Zombie – Wears a traffic cone that provides extra protection. It takes more damage than a Regular Zombie before its armor is destroyed.
  • Buckethead Zombie – Uses a bucket as heavy protection and has significantly higher durability. Stronger attacks or sustained fire are usually needed to defeat it.
  • Pole Vaulting Zombie – Uses a pole to jump over the first plant it encounters. It can bypass an important defensive plant before continuing toward your house.
  • Newspaper Zombie – Carries a newspaper that acts as additional protection. Once the newspaper is destroyed, it becomes faster and more aggressive.
  1. Build your Sun economy early – Start with several Sunflowers so you can afford stronger defenses as zombie waves become harder.
  2. Defend every lane – Keep at least one reliable attacker in each active row to prevent zombies from reaching your house.
  3. Use Cherry Bombs strategically – Save this powerful attack for large groups or dangerous situations instead of wasting it on one weak zombie.
  4. Protect your attackers – Place Wall-nuts in front of vulnerable plants to slow zombies and give your damage dealers more time to attack.
  5. Use Lily Pads in Pool levels – Place Lily Pads on water tiles before adding land-based plants to build a defense across the pool.
  6. Adjust your strategy at night – Since normal sky-sun production is unavailable, use Sun-producing mushrooms and other nighttime plants to maintain your economy.
  7. Counter special zombies – Choose plants based on the enemies appearing in each level. Fast, armored, or jumping zombies may require different defensive setups.
  8. Keep emergency Sun available – Avoid spending all your Sun immediately. A reserve lets you respond quickly when a strong zombie breaks through.
